Phoning It In

Here are a couple tries at low-light photos with a handheld smartphone.

Above is the old depot in Muskegon, Michigan. And below are the parking lot lights behind Fricano’s on Muskegon Lake.

Landing Party

Arriving back at Sheridan Landing after a gorgeous run on October 7, it was a surprise to find another car at the rarely used launch. In mid-sentence of mid-chat, the driver suddenly stopped talking as he stared at a another surprise – a very young and very skinny kitten who had wandered out of the woods.

Here he is in the back of Sue’s truck before heading home.

Yard Work

An inexpensive tripod adapter makes low light shots easy with a smartphone. These are all of the northern rail yard in Muskegon very early on September 22, 2015. As with nearly everything for the last six months, all were shot with an LG G4.

Emily Illuminated

Lest you think that our cats are allowed outside to howl at the moon (or for any other reason), this is Emily in front of a night light.

Fish and Guests

Purposely running into a log to shoot a lily pad, led to the discovery of a spider who was not at all welcoming to inedible visitors.

Macro Monday

Pick a stupid route. Get lost trying to find car. Paddle too much. Arms get tired. Screw it. Pull over and shoot macros.

Web Query

The crazy network of connectors between the north and south branches of the Muskegon River is so extensive that locals named it the Spider Web.

Does anyone know if these were passages that were used for moving lumber? Many seem man made, but most don’t appear to be wide enough for trees. Maybe they were used instead to quickly move labor to wherever it was needed?
